Sometimes procrastinating really works... if there is a deadline, that is. I've written some of my best stuff at the very last minute. But if there is no deadline... "Procrastinators unite tommorrow" type deal happens, lol. ;)

Great comments, guys! I agree with Stephenie Perryman. If God approves of your writing, then it doesn't matter if anyone else does. Personally, I like sci-fi/fantasy, suspense, and even horror (as long as it's not gory), and I never have any qualms…

What would you want to go back to study?
I work as a paralegal for a criminal defense/family law attorney. I don't think I'm very good at it though...

Hi Britt!
Sorry for the late reply. I haven't been near a computer for a while. How have you been? What's new with you?

No, second POV is basically talking to "you." You, the reader, are the character that the narrator character/voice is talking to. Usually second POV is used for instruction manuals or board game instructions and is spurred by every other format of writing in the English language (since you aren't really allowed to use "you" in formal writing, as you know). I've seen it used for fiction once or twice, but usually it just always sounded like the writer clearly couldn't write. I absolutely HATED 2nd POV, but then I came across this fanfiction (for the Eragon books; have your read them?)http://fanfiction.shurtugal.com/viewstory.php?sid=14680
Then, I tried my hand at it for an Eragon fanfiction as well... http://fanfiction.shurtugal.com/viewstory.php?sid=14705 (this take you to the summary page, but click at the chapter one link at the bottom if you want to read it...)

That's a good idea - looking at it like a college paper. Usually, I need deadlines to finish things. ;P

Actually, I graduated from college... with an AAS I didn't want, though. I'd love to go back to school, but I definately don't make enough money to put me through again, and I can't get any financial aid...
I know that not having a job is tough, but definately enjoy it while you don't have one! lol. I wish I had enjoyed my time before a little more instead of worrying so much. And I am glad to hear that your summer is going well so far. :D

Have you ever tried writing anything from the second POV? I mean fiction-wise?
I don't particularly like second POV, but I've seen a few incredible uses of it in fiction writing even tried my hand at it for a fanfic once.... It's very experimental in some ways...

Oh, lol, I know what you mean about wanting to jump to another story before you can finish editing. I usually can't finish one for even just a complete first draft because I jump around from story to story and to new sotry so much.
lol!! It would definately be nice to get paid for it! ;P

Oh, okay. No, that's cool. I totally understand. I usually don't share much of my original stories with many people.

My summer... lol, well, I just work 9-5 every day Monday thorugh Friday, so it doesn't really feel much like summer except for the weather - which is wonderful!!! ;D
How's your summer going for you?

The Script Frenzy too? Nice!!!

"I find trying different styles (of writing, or anything really) to be good. I like to be well rounded." I know what you mean! I am afraid to be trapped in one style. A lot of writers seem to eventually do that - fall into the same narrator voice and story line over and over and over again. Eek!

Lol, well, I guess that I am weird and actually *like* to edit. Fine-tooth combing for small grammatical errors is annoying, but my stories always seem to shift MAJORLY when I edit - so that is always fun. I always shoot for generic and cliche (because those kinds of stories simply amuse me) but they always re-edit themselves and turn into something completely different and obnoxiously complex! (But then again, I got paid to edit papers once upon a time, so perhaps that is why I like it so much... ;P )

Tell me more about your story? (lol, I lurk fanfiction sites and beta for writers; I love hearing new stories!)

Happy writing!

Have you ever finished your NaNo challenges? How many years have you participated?
That's awesome that you like to write a little bit of everything :D
(Oh, btw, as to the western genre - I was never a fan either until I encountered Louis L'Amour's Sackett series... you will love the West forever after reading his books! ;P I highly reccommend his writing - In fact, his Sackett novel Ride the River is one of my all time favorite books!)
It sure does take time to write, doesn't it?! Especially for a grammar nazi like myself, all that editing ;P And then, of course, you have to be in the right mood of the right story and all too... gah! ;P
Tell me a little more about the stories you are working on now?
Yes, God is awesome. He is always moving. :D

I liked certain parts of the "Half-Blood Prince" but on the whole I didn't much care for it. It was the filler. It had a lot of the history in it - which I liked - but it was too slow, I think. I think the reason I really didn't care for the movie was because I have read the books and it was just so different. I don't know. I'll have to watch it again and really decide. Lol. Ah! I can't imagine there not being more than three books!!!!!!! That was evil of the publisher to force her to write more, but I don't know how she couldn't have! Yes, I'd rather sit for three hours than have the movies split up. Like the Lord of the Rings. I watched those with no problem and loved them! What it is is the company is going to milk the audience for everything they can. They know that there are die hard followers who will pay the extra money to see it all. You know? Still, I think they'd make a bigger bang if they do it all at once.

The e-Books look really cool, but I agree with you. I love holding an actual book. :) I didn't know that textbooks were cheaper for the e-Book! That might be something to look into........You're right. I don't know of anyone who would read the textbooks more than once. o.o The iPad looks cool too.

I've got to run, but I'll talk to you later! Have a great day!

You may not have had as many lines, but you were the star of the show! Wow. That's awesome. :) Three days is crazy!!!!!!!!! Go you! Lol.

I'll have to read the Bree book soon. I liked the HP books and I like the movies too - except for the "Half-Blood Prince." I didn't care for that book and did not like the movie. -.- I don't like the fact that the next movie is coming out in two parts either. (I am of the same opinion for "Breaking Dawn".)

I can't wait to see the next Pirates or Narnia either!

I think the eBooks are neat. I don't know if I really like them though. I like feeling the book and pages in my hands. My eyes get tired if I look at a computer screen for too long and I think that's the same thing. I don't know though. It might be cool. What about you? What's your opinion?
At 3:51pm on July 8, 2010, Stephanie Oplinger said…
Haha, I guess that depends on your mood when you run at 11pm. ;P But I had a good time... though I talked too much and then couldn't run lol. ;P
Isn't there a junior NaNoWriMo in July? Are you participating in that?
What kind of things/stories do you like to write?
No, I haven't been writing all that much lately. I haven't had a lot of time, and there are things that must come first before writing. I plan on relaxing soon though and just writing for a little while. I have so many stories started and developed - I'd like to see them become much more filled out and/or full blown. I'm sure you know what I mean. ;P
Techno-ish music isn't something we hear much around where I am, but he is pretty popular. And I just love the lyrics of "Fireflies" - such fun writing on his part!
Glad to hear that about your mom's job! That is always good news. :) Can I hear more about your new writing project? And new books are always great! What are you reading now?
Yes, God is good!
Hmm... well, I've just been getting closer to God lately. He's changed my heart and made me give away a lot of my possessions to the poor. And I believe He is preparing me for bigger and better things. :) (Well, that's the short and sweet version of what He's been doing lately, lol ;P )
