The Christian walk has the potential of being life lived at its very best—a profoundly satisfying and deeply joyful existence. Unfortunately, many of God’s people never experience all that He has for them. Why? Because they never take the time to learn how to walk in step with the One who knows and loves them best. They know something about the Lord, but they have never developed a personal relationship with the Savior or experienced the wonderful intimacy that comes from knowing Him on an intimate level.
This lack of closeness halts spiritual growth because it is an essential requirement for walking with Him each day. If we don’t know God, we can’t walk in fellowship with Him. The same is true for the relationship we have with one another. Our world is crying out for intimacy, but far too often, people are looking for this in all the wrong places. Jesus told His followers, “Come to Me” (Matthew 11:28). He is the only One who can satisfy the deepest longing of our hearts.
For many, developing an intimate relationship with the Lord is a challenge. We must make the choice not only to seek the Father and love Him above all else, but we also must come to a point where we long for and desire His love above all else. True intimacy begins with a choice, but it only grows and develops as we open our lives and hearts up to Him. Walking in step with God means being in tune with His heart. This is what learning to walk in step with the Lord is all about: seeking His ways, studying His character, and asking Him to develop our hearts so that they reflect His love and care for others.
Your journey to living life at its very best requires an act of your will to know, trust, and obey the Lord. Are you ready to begin? Then jump right in. The Father is waiting to lead you along the most wonderful path—one you will never regret traveling.
