Hi,
I am sort of in the same situation. I have been trying to get to know christ and I wonder if I will drift away from him when I start working. I do not have a job but I have been looking around. Sometimes when I fill out applications I wonder if it is in God's will for me to work here. Sometimes I wonder if it is safe and if I will fall from God if I was to get the job. My advice to you would be to pray and ask God for guidance:) Hope this info helps

I've worked several jobs alike yours ie landscape, grocery stores, kitchens I've found that I just
don't approve of what they do or encourage that conversation. If they ask you about something, give them your honest answer of why you don't find that to be suitable conversation and how you wouldn't want someone talking about that behind your back (if it's gossip or the like) or that you wouldn't want that done to you. Stick to your guns. Speak out of the Holy Spirit knowing that you have crucified the flesh with it's passions and desires (Gal 5:22-25).
And for thinking of what to talk about or if you should talk - run it through the Philippians 4:8 filter.
So if it's true, honourable, just, pure, lovely and commendable, if it's excellent or it's worthy of praise think about these things and share them.
Try and build into the people you work with and really try to love on them. Talk with them on breaks or get a coffee together. Be open to share your testimony about your conversion/walk with God and be prepared to give the gospel.
If they make fun of you or revile you - they did they same to the prophets and other believers in God before you - Mat 5:10-12. Know that God's love is better than any other love or friendship you could have in all eternity Ps. 63:3. And that in Him there is a hope that we can continually rejoice in.
And above all - pray to God to guide you by His Spirit.
'Rejoice in Hope,
be patient in tribulation
be constant in prayer'
Rom 12 : 12

listen to one of trip lee's interviews on DWYL don't waste your life, He talks about Doing things for the glory of the Lord.its really good.

as for the cursing bit and sensual talk, Real talk thou esp to Cetera You are def going to have a hard time holding on to God when you get a job, theres so much distractions in the work environment its not funny yo....newaiiz one way i dealt with the whole gossip, cursing etc is/was Through prayer. a few months back i noticed This lady i worked with would come to her desk every morning before work, she would say a little prayer.and than be smiling most of the day.i concluded that every morning we must seek first God & his kingdom, because are a clearly his workmen on earth just carrying out his plans for our daily lives without realizing it. thats the easy part the hard bit is actually walking away.

Just walk away...and smile like hey its gonna be a good day..i do this and it helps...yes u may hear the cursing and distant sensual talks and if don't involve you than just chill and if it does involve you..be happy at least now you know Those kind of people have no lives due to the fact that they are talking about your's..lol i call them FANS

BTW its hear nt here :)

I have been in that situation. You find yourself overwhelmed by the conversations around you and to walk away would only make people look at you as the snobby outside who think she better than everyone. Guess what world, we're not. We all sin, but as Christians we've found the alternative to living in it; Christ. He has redeemed us and set us free from the chains of this world. It gets hard being the only Christian in the room, but if make Christ the center of every conversation people know where you stand and what's appropriate. Try it, I did and it works.

Hey gurl!
I have a cosmetology license! It is tough being in a secular job but just guard your ears and your heart from the talk. shine a light to you coworkers and clients by not gossiping, loving them, and if they ask for advice throw some scripture in there. It is important that christians are in the world so they can shine a light!!!! we can't all huddle 2gether!
