Is suffering due to God's punishment for sin?

My perspective on what I've come to know about God and why we suffer is that when Adam and Eve sinned in the garden they brought with them a multitude of disease, destruction and desolation with that one beginning of sin. It is our heritage as human beings to be sinful and to suffer from the effects of sin. Sin is like a nasty flesh eating disease of the soul that once born you qualify for it. There is no escaping it because it is our destiny. However God knew that we had brought this upon ourselves and because He loves us so very much He decides to intervene. Bear in mind we through our own free will chose to sin and God respecting that free will allowed us to continue along the road we chose :sin and death. But because of His goodness he wanted to give us another option just in case there were others of us who could and would love him given the chance--so he sent Jesus so that through his grace we may be saved. Not because we deserve a second chance, not because we've earned it through the law, not because we pleaded with Him but because He loves us. So our salvation and our eternity is secured but as we are still flesh living in a sinful world with sinful people we do go through times of trial and suffering. Although God allows us to go through these times to refine us, as well as He sometimes does it so that you will seek him even further and call out to Him. He yearns for communication and conversation with us. So as long as we live on earth as humans, we will suffer pain, hurt, disappointments etc because we are essentially sinful beings born into sin. However Christians can smile because we are sinful beings cloaked with the grace and mercy of God.; ▶ Reply to This
